River Hill Stables.River Hill Stables offers a huge, 135 x 75 foot lighted indoor arena with a sand surface, a 200 x 85 foot outdoor arena, a round pen that is sixty feet in diameter, and outdoor wash bay, tack rooms, 180 acres of riding trails and wireless Internet service. We regularly hold special events each month. We have a lot of experience in proper horse care. All equestrian disciplines are welcome. There are jumps, barrels, poles and dressage letters in each of our arenas. On-site instruction is also available. And our rates are very reasonable! Instructors

Aude Butler—BausermanAude Butler—Bauserman -- Full-time French and Biology Teacher in Luray, Va., as well as a Freelance Dressage Instructor. Learned to ride as a child living in Europe, including at the French dressage school L’academie Equestre de Touraine. Aude's parents were actively involved in the breeding of Trakehners and Irish Draughts, which provided knowledge and appreciation for the breeding aspects of the horse business. Continuing training with instructors and clinicians in Virginia, she became a working student for Linda Konigesberg and continues to regularly attend clinics and seminars.

• Jumping Training Level 4 under the instruction of Isabelle Aufrere, La Cravache in France

• Classical French dressage training with Marie-Helene Lelievre

Sophie F. WhiteSophie F. White -- Certified since 1991 by the Equestrian Federation of Canada and Quebec as an Instructor/Trainer.


• Teaching Western Equitation since 1991

• Apprenticed under World Champion Reining trainer Francois Gauthier for two years

• Worked with two other top Reiner’s, Yvon Mathieu and Jacques Latendresse for six years

• Has competed professionally in Reining since 1996

• Sophie for years trained on her own as a professional specializing in training the reining horse from start to finish

Experience also includes:


• Training with Paul Beya and St-Laurent Dressage

• Working with qualified natural horsemanship trainers

• Starting young thoroughbreds on the race track

She now continues to teach and ride - aside from her work with the Piedmont Equine Clinic as an office assistant. She is well versed as a rider/trainer, and can help both beginners and advanced riders in most disciplines and breeds.

The Farmhouse

The Farmhouse at River Hill Stables.The Farmhouse houses five bedrooms, including one king bed, two twin beds, two queen beds and one double bed. Perfect for 2-10 people. The Farmhouse also has a full kitchen, two full bathrooms, heating and air conditioning, and two spacious living areas that contain a TV and DVD player. A fully-screened front porch offers great views of the mountains and farm. This is the perfect place for a family vacation or reunion.

Prices:

Weekend -- Friday through Sunday: $400

Week -- Saturday through Saturday or Sunday through Sunday: $1200


 

The Cottage

The Cottage at River Hill Stables.The Cottage once served as a meat house where the families who lived in the Farmhouse had stored foods and other supplies. It has since been renovated as a warm and cozy Cottage. It contains a full kitchen, heating and air conditioning, one full bathroom, one bedroom with one queen bed, a loft with two twin beds, and a living area with TV and DVD player. Sleeps 2-4 people. Outdoor porch with comfy chairs provide a relaxing way to enjoy the scenery. The Cottage is the perfect way for a couple to spend a weekend in the country!

Prices:

• Weekend -- Friday through Sunday: $150

• Week -- Saturday through Saturday or Sunday through Sunday: $525

: Additional local tax fees: 5 percent and state tax: 5.3 percent.
